Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Standard OECD 305 tests are technically not feasible with these strongly sorbing hydrolytically unstable substances. In addition is the route of exposure in an standard OECD 305 test unrealistic for these substances because the substance will either be sorbed or (bio)degraded. The bioaccumulation potential of the dialkyl amines C16-18 was due to the extreme low solubility in water calculated using EPIsuite (v4.0).

As indicated before, dialkylamines C16-18 readily biodegradable and poorly soluble in water. It is thus either sorbed or when desorbed immediately biodegraded, it is therefore unlikely that they will accumulate in the food chain. The extreme low observed water solubility is in good relation to the calculated log Kow value of 16.52 . Based on this log Kow value a BCF is calculated of 3.162 L/kg wwt indicating a low bioaccumulation potential.
