Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

- Sample tested:
- other: based on the structural formula of the test substance
- Remarks:
- statement by expert under GLP conditions
- Parameter:
- other: groups associated with oxidising properties, eletronegative atoms bound to high proportions bound to high oxidation state and electonegative atoms bonded to electronegative elements
- Remarks on result:
- other: the structural formula does not contain any of the parameters mentioned above
- Remarks:
- based on its structural formula
- Interpretation of results:
- GHS criteria not met
- Conclusions:
- The substance is concluded not to have oxidising properties. The substance meets all criteria for exemption from testing and has a structure not at all conducive with that required to exhibit oxidising tendencies.
Reference
Examining the structural formula, the following observations can be made:
- The molecule does not contain any functional groups imparting oxidising properties such as organic nitro compounds, N-halogen compounds, oxohalogen compounds and interhalogen compounds.
- According to the two criteria quoted, oxidising properties can exist when:
- the electronegative atoms which are present constitute a high proportion of the molecule and are bound to elements in a high oxidation state -> In the case of the test substance there are no highly electronegative atoms.
- the electronegative atoms are bonded to each other or the other electronegative elements such as iodine, nitrogen, sulphur or phosphorus -> In the case of the test substance there are no highly electronegative atoms.
Assessment against these two criteria indicates strongly that the molecule will not have oxidising properties
In every respect of the oxidising liquids exemption procedure, the test substance does not show any evidence of possessing oxidising properties.
On the basis of this exercise, the substance should be considered as not oxidising and should not be subjected to experimental testing.
Description of key information
The test substance was concluded from a GLP-compliant study not to have oxidising properties following a theoretical assessment of the chemical structure (Younis, 2012).
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Oxidising properties:
- non oxidising
Additional information
Justification for classification or non-classification
The test substance needs not to be classified as an oxidising substance as based on the chemical structure the substance does not contain any chemical groups indicating oxidising properties.
