First-aid measures

      General instructions

IN CASE OF INHALATION, SKIN BURN BY MELT, GETS INTO THE EYES, YOU MUST SEEK MEDICAL TREATMENT IMMEDIATELY.

If health problems occur or if you suspect that your health may have been affected, contact your physician and give the information stated on this safety data sheet. It is necessary to keep the vital functions going until a physician arrives (i.e. check heartbeat; ensure artificial respiration, heart massage). If the affected person has lost consciousness or if you believe that he/she may lose consciousness, transport the person to a healthcare provider in a stabilised position, lying on his/her side. In the case of first degree burns (painful red spots) and second degree burns (painful blisters), cool the affected locations with a stream of cold water. In the case of third degree burns (black spots, crumbling pale skin, usually painless), do not cool the affected place, but cover it with a clean piece of cloth. The affected person must not lose body heat.

      When inhaled

Move the victim to fresh air; keep him or her in absolute repose, inhalation of oxygen. Half sitting position, prevent person from losing heat. Transport to doctor

In case of contact with skin

Wash the affected area thoroughly with water and soap for 10-15 minutes.

In contact with melt in the case of moderate 1st degree burns: cool stricken location by cold water immediately and cover by sterile gauze.  In any other case follow general instructions. Call for a professional medical help promptly.

In case of contact with eyes

Wash the eye with a plenty of water or physiological solution for 10-15 minutes from inner to outer eye corner.

If the afflicted person is wearing contact lenses, they must be removed immediately. Call for a professional medical help promptly.

      When swallowed

Have the victim drink approx. 2 dl of water and call for a professional medical help promptly. Do not induce vomiting.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

When inhaled: mucous membranes irritation, cough, cephalomenia and lacrimation.

In case of contact with skin: Molten product: cause burns; solid product -dust:  irritation, redness

In case of contact with eyes: irritation, redness, lacrimation, pain

      When swallowed: Not known

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: Powder or snow fire-extinguisher. In the case of a large-scale fire, use heavy foam with a polar foam maker, or a split water stream. Containers should be cooled with a screen of water. You should try to get them out of the fire.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Direct water stream

Special hazards arising from the substance mixture

While the substance burns, it produces toxic products. Dust or vapours of this product makes explosive mixtures with the air.

Advice for firefighters

When fighting the fire in the dangerous area, you must use self-contained breathing apparatus and a protective suit against heat, eventually a protective chemical-resistant pressure suit.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Close the place of the accident. When managing the emergency, use the personal emergency equipment described in Section 8. Remove or switch off all sources of ignition.

In the case of solid product: avoid generation of dust. Ensure supply of fresh air in enclosed room. Stand down the wind in open air . Use PPE according section 8 of SDS, especially respirator against dust.

In the case of melted (liquid) product: Ensure supply of fresh air in enclosed room. Stand down the wind in open air. Use PPE according section 8 of SDS, especially respirator against organic vapours.

Measure a concentration of substance vapours and dust in the air  continuously.

      Environmental precautions

Prevent the substance from leaking into the sewerage system, ground and surface water or into the soil.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Collect spilled substance and incinerate everything including contaminated soil at the appropriate facility. The contaminated material must be handled as a waste described by valid waste handling legislation.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Avoid formation vapours at workplace and atmosphere – ensure sufficient ventilation and exhaustion. Use PPE according to section 8 of SDS. Avoid leakage or spillage of the product during handling operations. Avoid contact with open fire, sparks or hot surfaces.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

In the case of melted (liquid) product: Storage in tightly closed tanks. Use PPE according to section 8 of SDS.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1. Technical protection measures

Plant-wide and local ventilation, effective exhaust system, automation, hermetic sealing.

2. Organisational protection measures

The staff must wear personal protection equipment (PPE) to protect their eyes, hands and skin. This equipment must be suitable for the nature of the activities they perform. Wherever the technical means do not enable obeying the exposure limits determined for the working environment or ensuring that inhaling the substance does not affect a persons’ health, the staff must use also suitable protection of the respiratory system. If the staff are to use this equipment permanently while working, it is necessary to include safety breaks, if required by the nature of the PPE. All the PPE must be kept in good condition. Any polluted or damaged equipment must be replaced immediately.

Follow the rules of personal hygiene.   Do not eat, drink or smoke while working! Wash your hands as well as any uncovered parts of your body well with water and soap, or treat them with suitable reparation lotion after finishing work or before eating or drinking.

3. Hand protection

Protective gloves

Everyday working activities with possible contact during operation or getting stained in the case of leakage:  Material: Leather, Nitril-ruber Layer thickness, penetration time according to producer.

4. Feet protection

Chemical protective footwear

5. Body protection

Protective coveralls

6. Eye protection

Protective goggles (tight)

7. Respiratory protection

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

No reactivity hazards.

Chemical stability

At conventional physical and chemical conditions stable

Conditions to avoid

High temperature, formation of explosive mixtures of substance vapours with air. Contact with open flame, hot surfaces and sparks, influence of increased temperature.

Incompatible materials

Concentrated strong acids, strong oxidising agents

Hazardous decomposition products

Toxic fumes generation in case of a fire.
