Waiving of studies:

In accordance with column 2 REACH Regulation 1907/2006/EC Annex VII and IX section 9.2.1.1 to 9.2.1.4, biodegradation studies do not need to be conducted as the test substance disodium disilicate (delta-crystalline) is an inorganic substance.

Identification of degradation products (required in section 9.2.3 of Annex IX) does not need to be conducted as disodium disilicate (delta-crystalline) can be regarded as readily degradable in nature. The substance was shown to be degraded to water glass, which is identical to naturally occurring silicate, when coming in contact with water. No other harmful degradation products are to be expected (see IUCLID5 section 5.1.2 hydrolysis).
