Results and discussion

Effect concentrations
Duration:
72 h
Dose descriptor:
EC50
Effect conc.:
> 0.03 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
meas. (not specified)
Conc. based on:
dissolved
Basis for effect:
other: growth rate + cell growth
Remarks on result:
other: No EC-values determined, since the apparent effect on cell growth was not considered to be biologically significant, while the effect on growth rate was smaller than 10%
Details on results:
Due to the very low solubility of TRUMP IR DYE in water (0.03mg/l), concentration levels that might be toxic for algae could not be reached. Both for growth inhibition and growth rate reduction, the EC50 is higher than the maximum solubility of TRUMP IR DYE in test medium.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
no
Remarks:
Exposure concentrations of solution without algae did not remain above 80% relative to initial concentrations (could not be prevented, as no intermittent renewal allowed; decrease of test substance not due to adsorption to algae but due to low solubility)
Conclusions:
not toxic to algae up to water solubility
