PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
2,2'-azobis[2-methylpropionamidine] dihydrochloride
Type of composition:
legal entity composition of the substance
State / form:
other: granulate
Reference substance:
2,2'-azobis[2-methylpropionamidine] dihydrochloride
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Based on available information the substance itself shows no potential to fulfil the (P)ersistence and (B)ioaccumulation criteria.

Potential degradation products from hydrolysis and thermal decomposition according the publication from Werber were screened by QSAR estimations (Episuite 4.11, 2012; KOWWIN and BIOWIN modul). Estimations show indications that most of the degradation products might be considered as persistent or very persistent in the environment.

However, neither the substance itself nor the degradation products showed relevant potential for bioaccumulation. Therefore, further testing to evaluate PBT/vPvB properties of the substance or the degradation products is considered to be not necessary.

Likely routes of exposure:

The substance itself, respectively its degradation products, are emitted to the environment via industrial wastewater only.
