Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No studies investigating the adsorption/desorption behaviour of Fatty acids, C14-18 and C16-18-unsatd., mixed esters with castor oil, castor oil fatty acids, 2-ethylhexanoic acid and 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)-1-butanol (CAS No. 92113-48-9) are available. Using KOCWIN Program (v2.00), log Koc values of >= 6.7 and >=7 were calculated, based on log Kow and on the molecular conductivity index (MCI), respectively (Gerloff-Elias, 2013). These models have no universally accepted definition of its model domain, but since the substance is outside the Kow range of the training set, the results should be taken with caution. The definite values may not be fully reliable, but indicate a high adsorption potential, which is also to be expected based on the high calculated log Kow values (>=10, KOWWIN v1.68) and the low water solubility. However, for a similar substance with shorter carbon chain length a GLP guideline study according to OECD 121 is available. In this read-across study, on Ester reaction products of fatty acid, C5-10, pentaerythritol and dipentaerythritol, a log Koc of 4 - 7 was determined. The adsorption potential of Fatty acids, C14-18 and C16-18-unsatd., mixed esters with castor oil, castor oil fatty acids, 2-ethylhexanoic acid and 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)-1-butanol (CAS No. 92113-48-9) is expected to be higher, due to the longer hydrocarbon side chains which increase the lipophilicity of the substance. Based on this information, it can be assumed that the adsorption potential of Fatty acids, C14-18 and C16-18-unsatd., mixed esters with castor oil, castor oil fatty acids, 2-ethylhexanoic acid and 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)-1-butanol (CAS No. 92113-48-9) is high.
