PERFORMANCE OF THE PRELIMINARY TEST

The test item is formed into an unbroken powder strip about 250 mm long, by 20 mm wide and by 10 mm high on a non-combustible ceran plate. It was tried to ignite the test item at one end using a teclu-burner for 2 minutes.

RESULTS OF THE PRELIMINARY TEST

The test item showed a glowing combustion after it was tried to ignite the powder train with a hot flame from the teclu-burner. After the glowing combustion started the embers ceased immediately. There was no inflammation observed within two minutes of heating the pile with the gas burner. Furthermore no propagation of flames or smouldering was observed within the testing period of four minutes.

Because it was impossible to ignite the test item no main test had to be performed.

Therefore the test item

3,4-diaminobenzenesulfonic acid

is classified to be not highly flammable.
