Additional information

There is no available study on the chronic toxicity and carcinogenicity of ethyl methyl sulphide (EMS). However, results from a subchronic study with dimethyl sulphide (DMS), a structural analogue, indicate that DMS do not cause any significant systemic toxicity resulting from prolonged exposure. In addition, the consistently negative results from the series of in vitro and in vivo genotoxicity tests with EMS and DMS do not suggest any cause for concern with respect to carcinogenicity.
