PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Non-P and non-vP properties:

ZINN(II)-RICINOLEAT has proven to be readily biodegradable according to Guideline OECD 301 F. Therefore the substance is not regarded as persistent.

Non-B and non-vB properties:

The log Kow was determined to be 4.8 at pH 3, therefore a potential for bioaccumulation in aquatic organisms has to be assumed for ZINN(II)-RICINOLEAT. However in contact with air or water containing oxygen, the Tin(II)-compound will be oxidised to the Tin(IV)-compound within hours-days forming insoluble SnO2. The inorganic SnO2is not expected to bioaccumulate.

Non-T properties:

ZINN(II)-RICINOLEAT does not meet the criteria for toxicity of REACH Regulation Annex XIII, 1.1.3. as well as screening criteria for aquatic compartment.
