Findings

Pre-Test for Safety

When heating a sample of the test item in an open test tube (10*100 mm) in the aluminium block with a heating plate, a bubble chain was observed at approx. 206 °C. The chain broke at approx. 204 °C. After cooling down no changes were visible.

The pre-test for safety was performed in the study 15101601G906 (boiling point, see 4.3).

Evaluation and Result

The flash point is given as the mean value of the duplicate determination. The measured flash point is therefore 57.0 ± 0.5°C (corresponding to 330.2 ± 0.5 K).

Discussion

The difference between the two values which were measured was below 2 °C. For this reason, the determination was considered valid.

The flashpoint of the test item is stated as 57.0 ± 0.5 °C at 101325 Pa (corresponding to 330.2 ± 0.5 K).
Executive summary:

The flash point of the test substance was determined under GLP according toEU Method A.9 (Flash-Point), using a non-equilibrium closed cup method (ISO2719 -Part B).

First, the pre-test for safety was performed in the study 15101601G906 (boiling point, see 4.3) as following: When heating a sample of the test item in an open test tube (10*100 mm) in the aluminium block with a heating plate, a bubble chain was observed at approx. 206 °C. The chain

broke at approx. 204 °C. After cooling down no changes were visible. The flashpoint of the test item is stated as 57.0 ± 0.5 °C at 101325 Pa (corresponding to 330.2 ± 0.5 K).

This value is the mean value of two independent determinations.

The flash point of test substance is lower than the classification thresholds of 60°C of the Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP criteria) and the UN Globally Harmonised System (GHS).

Therefore the test substance is classified as a flammable liquid Category 3 according to CLP criteria and according to UN Globally Harmonised System (GHS).

Description of key information

The flash point of the test item was stated as 57°C.

The substance is classified as a FLAMMABLE LIQUID Category 3 according to Regulation (EC) N°1272/2008 (CLP criteria) and UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS criteria).

Note that the result obtained on this kind of substance should be largely influence by small amounts of volatile constituents.
