Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

Since the only available study report for this endpoint does not contain essential information for an appropriate evaluation of the results, the study it has been discarded. Specifically, the following information are missing:

- volume of injected solutions and identity of the solvent

- number of animals involved in the test

- number of positive responses

- presence of positive/ negative control groups

- type of coverage used at the challenge

- recovery

- statistic

Therefore, in order to assess the potential skin sensitisation properties of HCFC 122a, the read across approach with similar compounds has been taken into account. In scientific literature some experimental results on HCFCs exist. Since no skin sensitisation properties for chemicals with analogue structures of HCFC 122a are reported, it can be concluded that HCFC 122a does not pose concern for this property.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
Since the only available study report for this endpoint does not contain essential information for an appropriate evaluation of the results, the study it has been discarded and the read across approach with analogue susbtances has been applied in order to assess the skin sensitisation properties of HCFC 122a. Basing on experimental data on similar compounds deriving from scientific literature it can be concluded that HCFC 122a does not pose concern for skin sensitisation.
