Description of key information

The flammability of a liquid is derived by its flash point (and boiling point). The flash point of 133.8 °C concludes that the substance is not flammable. Based on its chemical structure the substance does not need to be considered either as pyrophoric or water reactive. Furthermore self-reactive behaviour could be excluded based on the result of the DSC. As a liquid the substance does not need to be considered for self-heating behaviour. Its chemical structure also allows to exclude a classification as organic peroxide.

Additional information

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the flammability study does not need to be conducted as the flammability is deduced from flash point and boiling point.

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the pyrophoric properties study does not need to be conducted as based on chemical structure pyrophoric properties are not to be expected.

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the water reactivity study does not need to be conducted as based on chemical structure water reactivity is not to be expected.

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the UN test series A to H for self-reactive substances and mixtures does not need to be conducted as the heat of decomposition is greater than 300 J/g, but the onset temperature is greater than 200 °C.

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the UN test N 4 for self-heating substances and mixtures does not need to be conducted as the substance is a liquid.

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the UN test series A to H for organic peroxides does not need to be conducted as by definition based on their chemical structure the substance is no organic peroxide.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the final conclusion that all endpoints relevant for a classification could be excluded there is no need to classify the substance as flammable.
