Additional information

The determination of the solubility in water of phenyl silsesquioxanes as a whole substance is not scientifically meaningful for the purpose of assessment of exposure or risk.   Phenyl silsesquioxanes is a multiconstituent substance; exposure assessment is best achieved by considering the water solubility of the individual constituents.

A water solubility value of 6.6 ± 0.43 ppb at 23 °C was determined for PhM3T (CAS 2116-84-9), the monomer constituent (Constituent 1) of the registration substance, in a reliable study conducted according to generally accepted scientific principles.

The water solubilities of all constituents have been determined using a QSAR estimation method. Water solubility values in the range 4.9E-05 to 4.94E-51 mg/l at 20°C were estimated for the constituents of the substance. Linear constituents 2 -7, and cyclic constituents 3 -7 fall outside of the applicability domain of the QSAR, however the estimation serves to indicate the very low water solubility of these constituents.
