Reference
Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
from 2009-10-02 to 2009-10-06
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: GLP guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling point/boiling range)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The sample tube was heated in an aluminium block instead of a liquid bath. This was judged to have no influence on the outcome of the test.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
see above
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
method according to Siwoloboff
Boiling pt.:
269.8 °C
Atm. press.:
101.325 kPa
Decomposition:
no
Remarks on result:
other: ± 0.1 °C

The determination was performed in duplicate. The boiling temperature at standard pressure was calculated following the equation of Sidney-Young.

Table: Results

Determination  Boiling point (measured)  Pressure  Boiling point (corrected)
 First determination  269.0 °C  99.871 kPa  269.7 °C (542.9 K)
 Second determination  269.0 °C  99.511 kPa  269.9 °C (543.1 K)
 Mean 269.0 °C  not applicable  269.8 °C (543.0 K)

Conclusions:
The boiling point was determined with 269.8 ± 0.1 °C (542.9 K). This value was the mean of two independent determinations.
Executive summary:

The study was conducted in accordance with the following guidelines: OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals No. 103 dated 27. July 1995 "Boiling Point" and EU-Method A.2, dated 31. May 2008, "Boiling Point".

The Siwoloboff method was used. Heating was done using an aluminium block instead of a liquid bath. The determination was performed in duplicate. The boiling point was determined with 269.8 ± 0.1 °C (542.9 K). This value was the mean of two independent determinations.

Description of key information
