Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
auto-ignition temperature (liquids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From June 2017 to 23 October 2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.15 (Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases))
Version / remarks:
2008
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The empty part (gaseous phase of the test item) of the flask exceeded 15% of its total capacity. This deviation was not considered to have affected the quality or the interpretation of the results obtained.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Auto-ignition temperature:
257 °C
Atm. press.:
101.325 kPa
Remarks on result:
preliminary test
Key result
Auto-ignition temperature:
256 °C
Atm. press.:
101.325 kPa

In the preliminary test, the lowest auto-ignition temperature was observed at 257°C with a volume of 190µl. The main was performed with this volume of test item. Six assays were performed in the main test from 255°C up to 259°C.

Conclusions:
The auto-ignition temperature of the test item is 256°C at 101.325 kPa
Executive summary:

The auto ignition temperature of the test item was determined according to recognised guidelines and under GLP. A deviation which didn't impact the quality or the results of the study was observed in the test.

Before determination of the test item auto-ignition temperature, the thermocouples (used to determine the gas temperature inside the test flask and the temperature of the oven used to heat the test flask) were checked with one reference substance.

The result obtained was in accordance with the theoretical value. The apparatus was considered reliable for auto-ignition determinations.

The auto-ignition temperature of the test item is 256°C at 101.325 kPa

Description of key information

The auto ignition temperature of the test item was determined in a key study of Klimisch validity one, performed according to recognised guideline and under GLP.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
