Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

- UN Transport N1 is waived
- UVCB is thermally stable under TG/DSC test conditions
- expert judgement concluded non-flammable properties

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The studied representative samples have shown to be thermally stable up to temperature 651 °C and over. The UVCB therefore cannot be considered as readily flammable. As a result, UN Transport test N1 could predicted negative result (expert judgement, supporting 4.13)

Granulometry of representative samples however confirm UVCB contain a major fine powder portion.

While there are public domain data to suggest that some metals, when in dust/fine powder form are flammable, the flammability hazard is not confirmed by experience in handling and use.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Reasons for non-classification are outlined in discussion above.

They are confirmed by industry experience in handling and transporting the substance since decades.
