Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance is a solid with a relative density of 1.44 at room temperature (mp ca. 160 degrees C) which decomposes at 183 degrees C. It has an extrapolated vapour pressure at 20 degrees C of 3e-7 Pa. Note that this vapour pressure is based on measurements at 181.2 degrees C; the measured vapour pressure therefore most likely resulted from volatile decomposition products. The true vapour pressure of the substance may therefore be significantly lower.

Substance is highly water soluble (14 g/L), and its octanol water partition coefficient (-0.83) indicates that it is very hydrophilic. An aqueous solution of 1 g/L has a surface tension of 73 mN/m; as such the substance can be classified as not surface active.

The substance is not flammable (is not susceptible to a thermally initiated reaction with oxygen), and does not self-ignite, up to its melting point. It is not explosive, when tested according to method A.14. It is positive in UN transport of hazardous materials test, series 1, but not in series 2 and 3 tests, so it does not qualify as explosive material according to these criteria either. It is not oxidizing according to test A.17.
