Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a standard ready biodegradability test according to OECD 301C, the substance was found to be readily biodegradable at a test concentration of 100.6 mg/L. This value is considered as NOEC.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
100.6 mg/L

Additional information

Absence of microbial toxicity can often be inferred from biodegradation studies in the laboratory. The information content of ready biodegradability tests can under certain conditions also be used to derive a NOEC in order to avoid new testing (ECHA R.7b, v3.0 (Feb. 2016)). A ready biodegradability test relying on continuous monitoring is considered more reliable for observing the effects of a chemical on the inoculum. A GLP study, following the MITI protocol has concluded on the ready biodegradability of Sakura Salicylate. As the actual NOEC for STP microorganisms is probably higher, use of the value of 100.6 mg/ L is considered to be a conservative approach for chemical safety assessment.
