Description of key information

The short term toxicity to fish has been determined by a 96h acute limit test on Oncorhynchus mykiss (OECD 203). As the test substance diamond is insoluble in water (solubility < 1mg/L), extracts of a nominal concentration of 100mg/L have been chosen as test medium in a limit test. The EC50 has been determined to be >100mg/l (nominal).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Fresh water fish

Effect concentration:

Marine water fish

Effect concentration:

Additional information

The study chosen as key study is valid for this endpoint as it has been performed according to GLP and OECD guideline 203 (Acute toxicity to fish). Diamond is insoluble in water (<1mg/L), therefore a LIMIT test with a nominal concentration of 100 mg diamond per litre is appropriate.
