Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The ERV values are an EC50 of 2.96 µg Pd L-1 (growth rate) and a NOEC value of 1.33 µg Pd L-1 (growth rate) and these are compared against the TD results for this substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Classification of poorly soluble metal substances is conducted by comparing the results from 7 and 28-day TD tests against acute and chronic environmental reference values (ERVs). For palladium substances the ERVs are based on ecotoxicity data for diamminedichloropalladium, as the most toxic palladium substance. Environmental classification is determined by comparing the ecotoxicity results for diamminedichloropalladium against the TD test results for the substance. The EC50 for algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata)determined for diamminedichloropalladium is 2.96 µg Pd L-1(growth rate) and the NOEC is 1.33 µg Pd L-1(growth rate) (Wenzel 2012). The results were determined in a study following OECD guideline 201, with five test concentrations. Test concentrations were analysed by ICP-MS and test results were based on mean measured concentrations.
