Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Within 28 days, a degradation of 1 % was determined for HDI Trimer in a 'Closed Bottle Test'. HDI trimer is regarded as "not readily biodegradable".
In a 'Modified Manometric Respirometry Test' with adapted inoculum no degradation of HDI Trimer ) could be obtained within 28 days.
In a biodegradation test with adapted industrial bacteria it was shown that the substance is not degradable. This result is used for assessing the behaviour of the substance in STPs.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

Beside valid tests, there is a study according to a modified MITI-I where the substance was determined to be not readily biodegradable. This study is not regarded as reliable: within 28 days only 48 % degradation of the reference substance (aniline) was observed.
