Description of key information

For PFOS, similar toxic effects are produced in subchronic studies in rats and monkeys. These effects are generally characterized as body-weight or body-weight gain decreases, liver-weight orelative liver-weight increases, liver cell hypertrophy, in some cases with vacuolation, and a reduction in serum cholesterol levels.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Repeated dose toxicity: via oral route - systemic effects
