Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Remarks:
The study was conducted according to an appropriate test method but not in compliant with GLP.
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
ISO 3679 (Determination of flash point - Rapid equilibrium closed cup method)
Version / remarks:
ASTM D3828-87
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
closed cup
Flash point apparatus:
Setaflash apparatus
Key result
Flash point:
79.7 °C
Atm. press.:
101.3 kPa
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The flash point of the test substance has been determined to be 79.7°C at 1013 hPa using a method which is consistent with an appropriate test guideline. The result is considered to be reliable.

Description of key information

Flash Point: 79.7°C at 1013 hPa (ASTM D3828)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
79.7 °C

Additional information

A measured flash point value of 79.7°C at 1013 hPa was determined for the registered substance using a closed-cup method in accordance with ASTM D3828-87 Test Method. The result is considered to be reliable and is selected as key study.

In the available secondary sources to which reliability could not be assigned, flash point values of 82.2°C and 88°C were reported for the substance.

A measured flash point of 79.7°C and boiling point of 204°C at 1013 hPa indicate that the substance should not be classified for flammability in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
