Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental data investigating the toxicity of KDDC (CAS No. 128-03-0) to algae are available. Therefore, a conclusion about this endpoint had to be drawn based on results from a test performed with an analogue substance. The toxicity of SDDC (CAS No. 128-04-1) to algae species was investigated in a study by Van der Kerken (2003). This test was conducted according to OECD Guideline No. 201, Alga, Growth Inhibition Test (1984), under GLP conditions.Raphidocelis subcapitata was exposed to the test material at seven different concentrations and effects on biomass and growth were determined at 72 and 96 hours (exponential growth was maintained). The 72h-ErC50 and NOErC values were determined to be 0.25 and 0.10 mg a.i./L respectively. The algal cells started to grow again when they were placed in fresh nutrient medium, thus the test substance is algistatic rather than algicidal.
