Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates: Weight of evidence: Read-across from experimental results obtained with the analogue substances Potassium acetate and Sodium acetate. The 48h-EC50 for Calcium acetate is calculated to be between: > 370.28 mg/L - > 964.09 mg/L (basis for effect: mobility).

Additional information

Weight of evidence:

Read-across from experimental results obtained with the category analogue Potassium Acetate: Test method was according to OECD 202 and GLP. The 48h-EC50 for Potassium acetate was greater than 459.5 mg/L with Daphnia magna (basis for effect: mobility). The EC0 (48h) was 282 mg/L for Potassium acetate.

Based on molecular weights, read-across approach was applied and the (48 h) EC50 for Calcium acetate is calculated to be > 370.28 mg/L, and the (48 h) EC 0 is 227.5 mg/L.

Read-across from experimental results obtained with the category analogue Sodium Acetate: Test method was according to EU Method C.2 and GLP. Twenty animals (Daphnia magna) were exposed per concentration. The nominal concentrations used in the test were: 0, 20, 40, 60, 100, 200, 300, 600 and 1000 mg/L. The 24h-EC50 was greater than 1000 mg/L (basis for effect: mobility). The 48-h EC50 was greater than 1000 mg/L.

The read-across approach is applied and the (48 h) EC50 for Calcium acetate is calculated to be > 964.09 mg/L.
