Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Seek immediate medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Hold eyelids apart and flush with plenty of water for 15

minutes. Seek immediate medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash skin with plenty of soap and water. Launder

contaminated clothing before re-use. Seek immediate medical

attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Drink copious amounts of water. Seek immediate medical

attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical foam and powder

Product arising from burning: The substance is combustible and will burn if involved in a

fire, evolving noxious fumes (eg carbon oxides). However,

there is no experimental evidence to support the anticipated

combustion products.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full chemical and flame resistant protective clothing,

gloves, boots and self-contained breathing apparatus must be

worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.

Protective clothing and respirator conforming to the

relevant national or international standards as mentioned in

section 2.3.10 must be worn. At a minimum PPE consisting of

coverall, shoe covers, eye protection, impermeable gloves

and a respirator with high efficency filters or cartridges

must be used.

Minimise dust formation by damping down with water. Absorb

spillages of solutions with a suitable inert material (eg

sand or soil). Carefully transfer the spillage to waste

containers, or use a wet/dry HEPA vacuum. Containers filled

with waste material must be labelled in the same way as the

original containers.

Clean the spillage area with water and detergent and

ventilate the area.

Dispose of waste material by incineration in accordance with

local regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance must be stored, handled and used in conditions

of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with any local

regulations in order to prevent exposures to the extent

technically feasible.

Engineering controls in the form of containment are

necessary to reduce exposure to the substance.

When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled

by engineering controls appropriate personal protective

equipment must be worn. Such protective equipment must

conform to the appropriate international or national

standards as follows;

Chemical protective gloves to Standard EN374 (double gloved)

Chemical resistant clothing to Standard EN368

Eye protection to Standard EN166

Respiratory protection must be used as a secondary control.

e.g. a respirator conforming to EN136 for toxic dust.

The standards mentioned above should be regarded as a

minimum.

Storage: Store in an unbreakable container (or with secondary

containment) at controlled room temperature (15-30°C).

Keep containers tightly closed when not in use. Ensure

containers are properly labelled.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Material is packaged in UN approved fibre drums (double

lined) securely fastened

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None known.

Chemical reaction with water: None which is hazardous.

Dust explosion: Class ST-2 dust

Material exhibits strong explosion characteristics if

ignited as a dust cloud. Material is highly susceptible to

accumulating static charges during processing and

uncontrolled static discharge may result in igniting a dust

cloud under certain conditions due to the low minimum

ignition energy. Provide suitable bonding and grounding for

containers and process equipment to control static charges.

Powder handling equipment such as dust collectors, dryers,

and mills may require additional protective measures (eg.

explosion venting).

Dust explosion determined by test: Y

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Handling of the substance will be by trained operators and

will be kept to a minimum.

Anticipated discharge to the environment will be minimal.

Recovery from minor spillages or accidental discharge is not

economically or technically feasible, and such waste

material will be disposed of off-site by closed cycle

incineration. Recovery of larger spillages of uncontaminated

material for subsequent use is recommended. As material is

used in process no recycling of material is possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the

material.

The dust hazard will be minimised by engineering controls

and PPE.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Treat product and contaminated material as hazardous waste

which must be incinerated in accordance with local

regulations.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning

under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment

processor using a closed-cycle incinerator with scrubbers in

accordance with local and national regulations.

A663 (incinerate, high temperature-long burn (*) with flue

gas scrubbing).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to

the sewage system or the aqueous environment. However, trace

quantities in aqueous washes can be treated in secondary

biological WWTP before discharge to municipal treatment

works.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: No other recommended methods of disposal.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: Not applicable.
