Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In accordance with the GHS criteria for classification of substances for acute aquatic toxicity, Acute aquatic toxicity values should be as follows: 96-hr LC50 (for fish) ≤ 1 mg/l and/or 48 hr EC50 (for crustacea) ≤ 1 mg/l and/or 72 or 96 hr ErC50 (for algae or other aquatic plants) ≤ 1 mg/l.

Classification for chronic aquatic toxicity will be relevant for not rapidly degradable substances with BCF ≥ 500 (or log Kow ≥ 4), or for substances with BCF ≥ 500 (or log Kow ≥ 4), and with chronic toxicity values (NOEC) ≤ 1 mg/l.

Based on the chronic aquatic toxicity data summarised here, ethylbenzene is not classified for chronic aquatic toxicity to invertebrates.
