Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Glucamide 818 read across justification 'Aquatic ecotoxicity'

For read across the following C chain homologeuous Glucamides are used, being already registered under REACH:

Public name REACH name EC No. Carbon chain

Glucamide 810 1-deoxy-1-[methyl(C8-10-(even)-alkanoyl)amino]-D-glucitol,

REACH Registration No. 01-2120028964-50-0000

940-284-2 C8-10
Glucamide 1214 A 3:1 mixture of: 1-deoxy-1-[methyl-(1-oxododecyl)amino]-D-glucitol; 1-deoxy-1-[methyl-(1-oxotetradecyl)amino]-D-glucitol,

REACH Registration No. 01-0000015674-66-0001

407-290-1 C12-14
Glucamide 1618 A mixture of: 1-deoxy-1-[methyl-(1-oxohexadecyl)amino]-D-glucitol; 1-deoxy-1-[methyl-(1-oxooctadecyl)amino]-D-glucitol,

REACH Registration No. 01-0000015858-56-0000

411-130-6 C16-18

Based on the typical composition of Glucamide 818 65.7% a.i. is related to C12 & C14 homologues (Glucamide 1214) and 13.8% a.i. to C8 & 10 (Glucamide 810). C16 to C18 & C18-1 account for 17.3% a.i. only. This means that the aquatic ecotoxicity values for Glucamide 818 should be higher than the ones from Glucamide 1214 but lower than the values from Glucamide 810.

For read across the lower aquatic ecotoxicity values will be taken, means the values from Glucamide 1214 (worst case).

In the table below an overview on the acute & chronic aquatic ecotoxicity of the the registration substance Glucamide 818 is given together with the data from Glucamide 1214. Comparing the data from Glucamide 818 and Glucamide 1214 shows that GA 1214 can be used for read across for the missung acute and chronic fish data of Glucamide 818 as the other acute and chronic data of both substance are in the same order of magnitude. Read across for the fish data avoids verterbrate testing and contributes to animal welfare.
