- PRELIMINARY TEST

- The water solubility of the test material was determined to be 0.00781 g/L at 20.0 ± 0.5 ºC.

DISCUSSION
- Sample 1 concentration was excluded from the overall result calculation and the reduced concentration was attributed to the initial shaking period of 24 hours being insufficient to achieve saturation of the sample solution.
- From information obtained in the hydrolysis test (see Hydrolysis - Harlan Laboratories Ltd (2011)- 41101043) and data relating to the pH of the test item in water that negligible hydrolysis of the sample solution occured during the course of the water solubility test.
- The preliminary water solubility test indicated that the column elution method should have been performed as the solubility was approximately 1 x 10E-2 g/L. However, due to the physical nature of the test material, it was not possible to use that method. Experience has shown that liquid test items coated onto glass beads cause the beads to adhere and a plug is formed within the column that prevents water circulation.
Description of key information
The water solubility of the test material was determined to be 0.00781 g/L at 20.0 ± 0.5 ºC.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Water solubility:
- 0.008 g/L
- at the temperature of:
- 20 °C
Additional information
The water solubility of the test item was determined to be 7.81 x 10-3‑g/L of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C, using the flask method, designed to be compatible with Method A6 Water Solubility of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 105 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995.
