Additional information
The acute toxicity of aluminium metaphosphate (CAS 13776-88-0) to invertebrates was investigated in a study by Simon (2014). This test was conducted according to OECD 202 under GLP conditions. Test organisms (Daphnia magna) were exposed to the test substance for 48 hours, applying a static water regime. Since the test item has also a low water solubility, the test media were prepared using the Water Accommodated Faction (WAF) approach according to the OECD guidance documents No. 23 and 29 to obtain the maximal solubility of the test item under the test conditions. Analytical determinations were performed to ensure a proper maintenance of the test concentration throughout the experiment. No effects on immobilization or fitness of Daphnia magna exposed to the test material were reported and therefore, an EC50 above 100 mg/L (> 0.245 mg/L measured aluminium) and a NOEC ≥100 mg/L (≥ 0.245 mg/L measured aluminium) were determined.
Thus the substance is considered not acutely toxic to aquatic invertebrates.
