Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Justification for type of information:
In accordance with point 1 of REACH Annex XI, it is considered justified to omit the testing for substances or mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases. Testing does not appear scientifically necessary as under conditions where the test material is in contact with water, no ignition and/or liberation of flammable gases is observed. The absence of structural alerts furthermore confirms that it is highly unlikely that the test material is flammable in contact with water.
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:
In accordance with point 1 of REACH Annex XI, it is considered justified to omit the testing for pyrophoric properties. Testing does not appear scientifically necessary as in the daily use and handling of the test material, during which continuous exposure to air can occur, no spontaneous ignition is observed. The absence of structural alerts furthermore confirms that it is highly unlikely that the test material possesses pyrophoric properties.
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Justification for type of information:
In accordance with Section 2 of REACH Annex XI, a flammability solids study does not need to be conducted since it is not technically possible to conduct a study due to the properties of the substance. In this case, the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid. The flammability of liquids is instead determined on basis of their flashpoint (in combination with their boiling point).

Description of key information

Flammability (Solids) (Waiver)

In accordance with Section 2 of REACH Annex XI, a flammability solids study does not need to be conducted since it is not technically possible to conduct a study due to the properties of the substance. In this case, the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid. The flammability of liquids is instead determined on basis of their flashpoint (in combination with their boiling point).

Flammability (Pyrophoric liquids) (Waiver)

In accordance with point 1 of REACH Annex XI, it is considered justified to omit the testing for pyrophoric properties. Testing does not appear scientifically necessary as in the daily use and handling of the test material, during which continuous exposure to air can occur, no spontaneous ignition is observed. The absence of structural alerts furthermore confirms that it is highly unlikely that the test material possesses pyrophoric properties.

Flammability (Contact with water) (Waiver)

In accordance with point 1 of REACH Annex XI, it is considered justified to omit the testing for substances or mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases. Testing does not appear scientifically necessary as under conditions where the test material is in contact with water, no ignition and/or liberation of flammable gases is observed. The absence of structural alerts furthermore confirms that it is highly unlikely that the test material is flammable in contact with water.

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the material does not require classification with respect to flammability.
