Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2020
Reliability:

Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 117 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), HPLC Method)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
HPLC method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
>= 6.69 - <= 8.25
Temp.:
20.5 °C
pH:
ca. 8
Details on results:
2 peaks were detected with UV and 2 with RI. The log Pow values range from 6.69 to 8.25 @ 20.5 ± 1 °C.
These results show all detected peaks which have log Pow values greater than 3.0 and are consistent with a material that has the tendency to accumulate in the environment.
The sample was essentially immiscible in 75:25 MeOH:pH8.0 buffer mobile phase.
The sample was essentially immiscible in methanol.
The sample was found to be miscible in DCM which was injected directly onto the column and then run with 90:10 MeOH:H2O mobile phase.
The validity criteria states that the calibration standards (both UV and RI) should have R2 values greater than 0.90 and that the variation between test replicate peaks should be less than or equal to ±0.1 log units. Both these conditions were met for this test.
DCM was also run as a system blank.
Only one example of each of the blank, standard and sample chromatograms have been included in this report.
The temperatures during the test were recorded using the thermometer DT-K next to the column (Min 20.4°C - Max 21.5°C).
Conclusions:
Fatty acids C16 -18, reaction product with ethanolamine was determined to have a Log Kow between 6.69 and 8.25 at 20.5 ± 1 °C based on the properties of its constituents.
Executive summary:

An HPLC method study was performed according to OECD 117 and fatty acids C16 -18, reaction product with ethanolamine was determined to have a Log Kow between 6.69 and 8.25 based on the properties of its constituents.
