PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

2-hexyldecanoic acid was demonstrated to be readily biodegradable in an OECD guideline 301B test.

Therefore the substance is not considered to be persistent (P).

2-hexyldecanoic acid has a calculated BCF < 2000, therefore the substance is considered not to be bioaccumulative according to the PBT-criteria.

A reliable QSAR model (Ecological Structure-Activity Relationship (ECOSAR) version 1.00) was used to predict the aquatic toxicity of 2-hexyldecanoic acid to aquatic life. None of the chronic values were <0.01 mg/L.

Furthermore, 2-hexyldecanoic acid is not classified as carcinogenic, germ cell mutagenic, or toxic for reproduction or STOT.

The substance is, therefore, not considered to meet the criteria for Toxic.

Hence the substance does not meet the criteria to be regarded as a PBT or vPvB substance.
