Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Acute toxicity key values for C12-14 AS Zn:

- For fish: 96h LC50 (B. rerio, mortality) = 4.56 mg a.i./L (nominal concentration, OECD 203)

- For invertebrates: 48h EC50 (D. magna, mobility) = 0.948 mg a.i./L (nominal concentration, OECD 202)

- For algae: 72h EC50 (P. subcapitata, growth rate) = 0.747 mg a.i./L (nominal concentration, OECD 201)

Chronic toxicity key values for C12-14 AS Zn:

- For algae: 72h EC10 (P. subcapitata, growth rate) = 0.226 mg a.i./L (nominal concentration, OECD 201)

For microorganisms: 3h EC50 (activated sludge, respiration rate) > 100 mg a.i./L (nominal concentration, OECD 209)

Classification justification according to CLP:

Based on the data above, C12-14 AS Zn is considered to be rapidly degradable and has a low potential for bioaccumulation. The acute aquatic toxicity L(E)C50 is below 1 mg/L for aquatic invertebrates and algae. The chronic EC10 value for algae is between 0.1 and 1 mg/L. C12-14 AS Zn therefore needs to be classified as environmental hazard Acute Cat. 1 and Chronic Cat. 3 according to Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008 (6th ATP) and Regulation (EU) No. 286/2011 (2nd ATP).

M-factor for acute aquatic toxicity:  1

M-factor for chronic aquatic toxicity: does not need to be assigned
