Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air if breathing becomes difficult.
Administer oxygen if necessary. Consult a physician.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse thoroughly with luke warm water for at least 15
minutes.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and
launder before reuse.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting, Consult a physician.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder, foam and water fog are
suitable extinguishing agents.
Product arising from burning: Combustion products may contain carbon, nitrogen and sulfur
oxides together with some silica smoke.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Protective clothing and a self-contained breathing apparatus
should be worn.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear protective clothing (see 2.3.1). Ventilation should be
provided during operations.
Small spills should be covered inert absorbent material,
collected and disposed of at an approved landfill site or
incineration facility.
For large spills, prevent spreading with dikes, absorb with
earth, sand, sawdust or other absorbent material. Collect
waste and place in suitably labelled containers for disposal
as above.
Handling and storage
Handling: Local exhaust ventilaton should be used in handling areas.
An organic cartridge type respirator (BS 2091) is
recommended if MS-200 is to be handled under conditions of
inadequate local ventilation. Persons handling the substance
should wear solvent resistant gloves and safety glasses.
Storage: Store below 30 deg C and protect from moisture. The
substance should be stored in a suitable labelled, sealed
container.

Special provisions / remarks
- Remarks:
- Transport: Transport in labelled, sealed containers.
Open-top steel drums should be used for transportation. For
short periods, during transportation only, the maximum
allowable temperature is 60 deg C.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: None reported.
Chemical reaction with water: Slow hydrolysis to give methanol and a solid mass occurs.
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not possible, the substance reacts
with atmospheric moisture to give a solid.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no known hazardous properties.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at a controlled landfill site for chemical waste is
possible. (A650)
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal by incineration at an approved facility equipped
with waste gas treatment to remove nitrogen and sulfur
oxides is recommended. (A661)
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
