Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Experimental studies investigating the short-term toxicity of 2-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-6-[[3-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-2-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl]methyl]-4-methylphenyl acrylate (CAS 61167-58-6) to aquatic organisms are available. Almost all studies were performed under GLP conditions (except for short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates) and according to standard OECD guidelines. No effects were recorded in any of the available studies up to the maximum concentration of 100 mg/L (nominal, filtered) resulting in EC50 values of > 100 mg/L. The NOErC derived from the algae study was ≥ 100 mg/L. In the available studies with fish and algae the exposure concentrations were verified by appropriate chemical analysis. The geometric mean measured concentration in the acute fish study was 0.00012 mg/L whereas the measured time weighted average concentration in the algae study was 0.00018 mg/L. Both measured values reflect the very low water solubility of the test item and furthermore indicate that the selected method for preparation of test solutions was suitable. In conclusion no effects were caused by the substance towards fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae by testing a 100 mg/L saturated solution (nominal) . Testing for inhibition of respiration according to OECD 209 resulted in an EC50 (3 h) > 1000 mg/L. Therefore, it is not anticipated that the test item inhibits the degradation process in sewage treatment plants.
