Toxicity to soil macroorganisms except arthropods
Short-term toxicity
In a 14-day acute toxicity study (IBACON, 394408, 2011) according to OECD 207 (1984) with Eisenia fetida, the LC50 of the test substance with Eisenia fetida was > 1000 mg/kg dry soil.
Long-term-toxicity
In a 56 day chronic test (BASF SE, 394409, 2012) with Eisenia fetida according to OECD 222 (2004) the test substance caused no adverse effects on survival, biomass development and reproduction of parent earthworms up to and including the highest concentration of 473 mg/kg dry soil. The overall NOEC for weight change, survival and reproduction was equivalent to 473 mg/kg soil dry weight. The EC50for reproduction is 804.39 mg/kg soil dry weight (> highest concentration tested).
Toxicity to terrestrial arthropods
Short-term toxicity
Acute oral toxicity:
In an acute oral toxicity test (BASF SE, 704047, 2014) according to OECD 213 (1998) with the test item, the LD50 (96 h) was estimated to be > 93.7 µg/bumblebee.
Acute contact toxicity:
In an acute contact toxicity test (BASF SE, 704047, 2014) according to OECD 214 (1998) with the test item, the LD50 (48 h) was estimated to be > 100 µg/bumblebee.
Long-term toxicity
In a 28-day Folsomia candida reproduction study (BioChem agrar, 394892, 2015) according to OECD 232 (2009), in which collembolans were exposed to the test substance the NOEC for mortality were determined to be 154.3 mg/kg soil dry weight. The NOEC for reproduction was determined to be 154.3 mg/kg soil dry weight. The EC10 and EC50 values for reproduction were calculated to be 162.0 and 425.3 mg/kg soil dry weight, respectively.
Toxicity to terrestrial plants
In a key study (Wildlife International, 394471, 2015) the in-life phase of the test with T. aestivum, Z. mays, B. napus and L. esculentum was conducted according to OCSPP Number 850.4100: Seedling Emergence and Seedling Growth (2012). After 21 days the NOER was determined to be 62.5 g/ha.
Toxicity to soil microorganisms
In a key study (BioChem agrar, 770828, 2015) according to OECD 2017 (2000) the NOEC of the test substance for effects on respiration in sandy loam soil is estimated to be ≥ 20 mg/kg soil dry weight. In addition in another key study (BioChem agrar, 770829, 2015) according to OECD 216 (2000) the NOEC of the test substance for effects on the soil nitrogen transformation (measured as NO3-N production) is estimated to be ≥ 20 mg/kg soil dry weight.
Toxicity to birds
Short-term toxicity
In an avian acute oral toxicity single dose test (BASF SE, 15W0676/09W018, 2013) on Zebra finch (Taeniopygia guttata) with the test substance conducted according to EPA OPPTS 850.2100 (Avian Acute Oral Toxicity Test (2012)). The LD50 of the test substance was 366 mg/kg body weight.
Chronic toxicity
In a study on the reproductive toxicity of the test substance (Wildlife International, Ltd., 147-261, 2014) according to OECD 206 (1984) the NOEC of the test substance in the Northern Bobwhite after 5 months was determined to be 80 ppm, equivalent to 6.7 mg/kg body weight/day.
