Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The adsorption coefficient (Koc) of Melonal has been estimated to be 46.4 to 159, log10 Koc 1.67 to 2.20, using an HPLC screening method, designed to be compatible with Method C19 Adsorption Coefficient of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 121 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 22 January 2001. The determination was performed at 30 °C (temperature of the column) but the value obtained can be considered to represent the value at an unspecified, probably ambient temperature since no mention is made in the guidelines of the temperature at which the tabulated reference substances log Koc values were determined. Adsorption coefficients of the test and reference substances are assumed to vary with temperature in the same way. On HPLC analysis of the test item, three peaks were obtained with percentage areas of 86.4, 12.6 and 0.9%. The Log Koc of the major peak was 2.2, which corresponds to a Koc value of 159. This has been chosen as the key value for chemical safety assessment.

[LogKoc: 2.2]
