Description of key information

No data are available for for Tetraethylhexyl titanate itself. Rapid hydrolyses into 2 -Ethyl hexanol and Titanium dioxide is expected after ingestion into the body.

2-Ethyl hexanol is rapidly and extensively absorbed via the gastrointestinal tract in rats and rabbit. Percutaneous absorption through rat skin is low. Observed toxicity via p.o. and inhalation routes indicates that 2 -Ethyl hexanol/metabolites are distributed to several organs. Target organs include liver, kidney and stomach. The excretion of 2-Ethyl hexanol/metabolites following p.o. administration is rapid and extensive occurring mainly via the urine in rat and rabbit.

Feces was the main excretion route of Titanium dioxide. Urinary excretion and whole blood concentrations of titanium were below the limit of quantification (LOQ) after 72 h and concentrations of titanium in liver, kidneys and muscle could not be detected for all tested groups in an oral toxicokinetic study.
