Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Additional information:

No data regarding skin sensitisation or elicitation in humans have been located. Based on data from other nickel compounds, nickel carbonate and -hydroxide may cause sensitisation under conditions where the nickel ion is released. Based on data for nickel sulphate which is already classified as a respiratory sensitiser and from data for metallic nickel it is concluded that nickel carbonate - and hydroxide is also a respiratory sensitiser (EU C&L Dossier and the OECD SIDS draft 2007).

Migrated from Short description of key information:
Nickel carbonate hydroxide is classified according to Annex I to Directive 67/548/EEC with R42/43.
