Description of key information

The BCF programme in EPIWIN v.3.10 predicts a BCF of 3.16, indicating that bioaccumulation of n-Butyraldehyde is unlikely (Vinken R., 2007).

Regression-derived equations were also employed to determine the BCF. It was found to be between 1.13-2.75 (Lyman, W.J., 1990).

Using a Henry's Law constant of 1.2 x 10-4atm-cu m/mole, a log Kow of 0.88, and a regression-derived equation, an estimated bioconcentration factor (BCF) of 3.0 has been determined (US EPA).

These values suggest that the potential for bioconcentration of n-Butyraldehyde in aquatic organisms is low.
