Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information:
Migrated from Short description of key information:
No animal test data available; the substance and its degradation product are corrosive.

Justification for selection of skin sensitisation endpoint:
The degradation product, phosphoric acid are classified as a skin corrosive substance category 1B (concentration > or = 25%) according to the CLP Regulation Annex VI, table 3.1 (EC Regulation 1272/2008 on classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures). Taken into account this data, polyphosphoric acid is also classified skin corrosive 1B. According to the REACH Regulation, testing for skin sensitization does not need to be conducted if the substance is classified as corrosive to the skin (column 2 adaptation, Annex VII, section 8.3).

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available

Justification for classification or non-classification

Polyphosphoric acid and its degradation product are classified as skin corrosive, thus a further assessment for skin sensitization is not necessary.
