Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Seek medical attention

Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water and continue for

at least 15 minutes; get medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Immediately flush skin with plenty of water and get medical

attention if symptoms are present after washing.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: If swallowed, if conscious, immediately rinse mouth and

induce vomiting after giving 2 glasses of water. Get medical

attention.

[UK c.a.: Do not induce vomiting]

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use water spray, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Product arising from burning: Yields carbon dioxide/monoxide and nitrogen oxides on

combustion; yields a combustible dust.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and protective

clothing to prevent contact with skin or eyes.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Sweep on to paper and transfer to a cardboard carton (or

dissolve in a compatible waste solvent) and then incinerate

in an approved incinerator; or transfer to a licensed

chemical-wastes disposal company. Protective clothing

(including impervious gloves and goggles) should be worn.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid contact with oxidising materials.

Storage: Avoid contact with oxidising materials.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Not given, 6th amendment notification.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Due to the properties of the substance, this is not

practicable (however in use it is repeatedly recycled and

the "exhausted" solution can then be reconditioned, using a

treatment procedure provided to users, and be re-used).

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The acidity can be neutralised with a base such as sodium

bicarbonate.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be destroyed by incineration in an

approved incinerator (possibly after mixing with waste

solvent: see 2.4).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance has negligible effect on the sludge

micro-organisms which are used in the secondary

effluent-treatment stage of industrial waste- treatment

plants (as measured by concentration necessary to cause 50%

inhibition of the glucose -->CO2 reaction effected by these

micro-organisms, the IC50 value, which was found to be above

5000 mg/litre).

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not possible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable. The substance will only enter the public

domain at low concentrations in preparations.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Preparations used by the public may be disposed of in

domestic systems.
