Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: (for dry residues) in a suitable plant or disposal at a
specially permitted landfill site.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: 34-40% of the dyestuff is lost to the factorys internal
effluent system following the dyeing operation. This is
common for such dyestuffs and is countered by the use of
(undefined) effluent clean-up plant, but some still
escapes. Of this, some, but not all, will be degraded
aerobically, but there is evidence that much of it will be
destroyed anaerobically (Anaerobic degradation of
commercial bis-azo-dyes: Brown and Laboureur, Chemosphere
1983, 12(3), pp397-404; ETAD E 3013: sediment analysis of
the Rhine showing absence of dyes- Status Report 27/6/80).
