The chronic toxicity of 4 -Nitrophenol to invertebrates is described in various publications, which have been extensively reviewed by international groups of experts, i.e. BUA report No.75 (1992), IPCS CICAD (2000), ECB IUCLID (2000) and the US EPA under the HPV Chemicals Challenge Program (2004). The lowest 21-day NOEC for Daphnia magna was determined to be 1.3 mg/L (Kühn et al 1988, cited from the BUA report 1992). In another study, the 21-day- lowest-effect concentration was reported to be 0.15 mg/L (Marquart et al. 1984, cited from BUA report 1992).
