First-aid measures

General information: As a general rule, in case of doubt or if symptoms persist or you feel unwell, immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician.

In case of inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable and well-ventilated for breathing. If difficulties occur after dust has been inhaled or in case of irritation of respiratory system or mucous membranes and/or indisposition and/or prolonged exposure, seek medical attention.

In case of skin contact: Wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

In case of eye contact: Check for and remove any contact lenses. Immediately flush eyes with running clean water for at least 15 minutes, keeping eyelids open. Obtain emergency medical attention (e.g. contact ophthalmologist) if pain, blinking, tears or redness persist.

In case of ingestion: Immediately give plenty of water (> 500 ml, if possible charcoal slurry). In case of spontaneous vomiting be sure that vomitus can freely drain due of danger of suffocation. Give water repeatedly. Do not induce vomiting/risk of damage to lungs exceeds poisoning risk. Give nothing by mouth in cases of unconsciousness or convulsion. Get medical attention immediately and show the container or label.

Self-protection of the first-aiders: No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training.

Notes to physician: No specific treatment. Treat symptomatically. Recommendation: provide the physician information about the product.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed: The symptoms and effect known  are most relevant, in case of exposure, are described in section 2 and section 12 of eSDS. Other important symptoms and effects are not currently known.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: No recommendation given, but first aid may still be required in case of accidental exposure. If in doubt, GET MEDICAIL ATTENTION PROMPTLY!

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: Dry powder, foam

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reason: Carbon dioxide

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Do not inhale explosion and combustion gases. When heated (decomposition) or in case of fire may liberate carbon oxides, gases and vapours which are dangerous to health.

Advice for fire-fighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus, follow the general fire precautions indicated in the workplace. Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Move undamaged containers from immediate hazard area if it can be done safety.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Wear personal protection equipment. Remove persons to safety. Avoid dust formation. Avoid inhalation of mist or vapour.

Environmental precautions: Contain contaminated water/fire-fighting water. Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Avoid raising dust.

For small amount: pick up with suitable appliance and dispose of.

For large amounts: contain with dust binding material and dispose of.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

General advice: Handle the product in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practices. Ensure thorough ventilation of stores and work areas.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes, inhalation of vapours and mist.

Before making transfer operations, assure that there are not any incompatible material residuals in the containers.

Contaminated clothing should be changed before entering eating areas.

Do not eat or drink while working.

See also section 8 for recommended protective equipment.

Fire and explosion hazard: When mixed with air and exposed to an ignition source, sufficient dust may become an explosion hazard. Use good housekeeping practices to avoid rendering dust airborne and prevent electrostatic charge formation during transfer and use of this chemical. Ensure that all equipment and containers are adequately grounded. Vapours generated from overheating/ decomposition may be flammable and may cause fire/explosion, if source of ignition is present. Protection against fire and explosion.

Protection against fire and explosion: Avoid dust formation. Sources of ignition should be kept well clear. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Keep container tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place away from strong oxidizers when not in use and during transport, prevent contamination with foreign materials. Keep chemical away from direct sunlight, heat, sparks, open flame and other ignition sources. Keep away from food and drink. Store in the original container securely closed. Protect from moisture and physical damage. Avoid exposure to UV light.

Risk of explosion if an air-dust mixture forms. Avoid creating dusty conditions. Empty only into earthed containers or use an other system designed to prevent or contain an explosion, seek expert advice.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls: Exposure limit(s) should be monitored using suitable analytical equipment(s). Work in well ventilated areas. Local exhaust ventilation is generally required because it can control the emissions of the contaminant and its source, preventing dispersion of it into the general work area. Use mechanical ventilation for general area control. Refrigerant concentration monitors may be necessary to determine vapour concentration in work areas prior to use torches or other open flames, or if employees are entering enclosed areas.

Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment

General safety and hygiene measure: Wear protective clothing as necessary to minimize contact. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practices. Eye wash fountains and safety showers must be easily accessible.

Eye protection: Safety eyewear complying with an approved standard should be used to avoid exposure to liquid splashes, mists or dusts, such as: eye protection to EN 166, designed to protect against powders and dusts; eye protection to EN 166, designed to protect against liquid splashes.

Skin protection: Chemical protection clothing.

Hand protection: Chemical resistant protective gloves (e.g. butyl rubber gloves EN 374).

Respiratory protection: Wear a NIOSH-certified (or equivalent) organic vapour/particulate respirator, e.g. half-mask respirator or full-face respirator to EN 529.  In case of brief exposure or low pollution use respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure use respiratory protective device that is independent of circulating air.

Thermal hazards: No specific information.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: There are no known reactivity hazards associated with this product.

Chemical stability: Stable under normal temperature conditions.

Possibility of hazardous reactions: Dust explosion hazard.

Conditions to avoid: Avoid sources of ignition. Avoid electro-static discharge.

Incompatible materials: Material to avoid: strong acids, strong bases and strong oxidising agents.

Hazardous decomposition products: No hazardous decomposition products if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated. When heated (decomposition) or in case of fire may liberate carbon oxides, gases and vapours which are dangerous to health.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods: The generation of waste should be avoided or minimised wherever possible. Disposal of this substance or product containing this chemical, solutions and any by-products must be dumped or incinerated in accordance with local/regional/national/international regulations.

Container disposal: The packaging must not be re-used. Recommend crushing, puncturing or other means to prevent unauthorized use of used containers.
