Description of key information

Generally stable, thermal decomposition from ca. 312 °C

Absence of decomposition during the determination of the vapour pressure according to EU A.4 is documented in the range of 50 to 60 °C (Tremain & Atwal 2011, Harlan Report no. 41103264). The same source reports the measurement of the flash point according to EU A.9 for which the submission item was heated up to 201 °C without signs of instability. During an OECD TG 103 study to investigate of the boiling behaviour (Fox & White 2012, Harlan Report no. 41103263), the submission item decomposed before boiling at ca. 312 °C (585 K). A white solid residue resulted after decomposition was completed. It was considered to be a salt of the phosphonate group. On the basis of handling experience and due to its spectral properties, i.e. the lack of absorption in the spectral range of natural daylight, no significant decomposition under sunlight exposure seems likely. Regarding empirical knowledge and the absence of chemical structure elements potentially reacting with metals no reactivity to metals can be assumed.
