Additional information

2 reliable studies on skin irritation for Protein Hydrolysates animal show no irritation effects on rabbit and human skin. Based on a read across approach from a similar substance, Peptones Beef is not expected to show skin irritating effects.

A Bovine Corneal Opacity and Permeability Test which was conducted on Peptones Beef according to OECD guideline 437 showed a very low in vitro irritancy score enough to not classify as eye irritant.

Justification for classification or non-classification

As all reliable studies show no irritation effects, Peptones Beef do not need to be classified as irritant for skin and eye according to the criteria of Annex VI of Directive 67/548/EEC and CLP Regulation 1272/2008.
