Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Test substance Intermediate 36 is not flammable (in contact with water) and has no pyrophoric properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Flammability (contact with water)
The chemical structure of Intermediate 36 does not contain chemical groups, capable of causing the development of a dangerous amount of (flammable) gas (e.g. hydrogen), when in contact with damp air or water. Therefore test substance is not considered highly flammable (contact with water).

Pyrophoric properties
No ignition and charring of the filter paper occurred in any of the two main tests performed – neither in the six tests following the first main test, nor in the succeeding three performed following the second main test as described above. Intermediate 36 proved to be not pyrophoric.

Flammability (solids)
The determnination of the flammability according to EU Method A.10 is not applicable as this method refers only to solid substances but Intermediate 36 is a liquid.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results of the test on pyrophoric properties (non pyrophoric) and considerations on the molecular structure of Intermediate 36 with respect to flammability (not flammable), the liquid test substance Intermediate 36 is not classified according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation /EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP).
